Ordering Technician
About the Position: This position performs purchasing and ordering duties for supplies, materials, equipment, and services in support of facility operations. The incumbent prepares and reviews purchase requests, coordinates with vendors and customers, and assists with resolving purchasing and payment issues.
- Prepare and review purchase requisitions, ensuring required documentation, specifications, justifications, approvals, and funding information are complete.
- Place orders for supplies, materials, tools, equipment, and services using established Federal purchasing methods and automated systems.
- Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, customers, and contracting personnel to obtain pricing, resolve purchasing issues, and ensure timely delivery.
- Review invoices, purchase card transactions, and payment documentation; reconciles accounts and resolves billing, shortage, or delivery discrepancies.
- Provide contract administration support by monitoring service contracts, assisting with modifications and payments, and coordinating with Contracting Officer’s Representatives.

Specialized Experience GS-05 : One year of specialized experience which includes 1) Preparing purchase requests or requisitions, reviewing purchasing documents for completeness; and 2) Maintaining and tracking purchasing or supply records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience GS-06: One year of specialized experience which includes;1) Applying procurement procedures to support purchase transactions for supplies, materials, tools, and equipment ; 2) Preparing and reviewing purchase requests and supporting documentation; AND 3) Coordinating with vendors and customers to resolve purchasing or delivery issues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. Specialized Experience GS-07: One year of specialized experience which includes; 1) Processing purchase requests and orders using established procurement procedures ; 2 ) Reviewing specifications, justifications, and documentation for compliance; and 3) Coordinating with vendors and reconciling purchases, invoices, or payments.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). OR Education: One full year of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as Business Administration. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 18. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement GS-07: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06). Time in Grade Requirement GS-06: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). Time in Grade Requirement GS-05: Candidates may be advanced without time restriction to positions up to GS-5 if the position to be filled is no more than two grades above the lowest grade the employee held within the preceding 52 weeks under his or her latest non temporary competitive appointment.
